Job Summary  

FordDirect is looking to hire an Intern within the Legal, Compliance & Privacy Department for our Summer 2025 Internship Program.  This is an excellent opportunity to obtain real-world, business experience.  This position will provide exposure to multiple areas within the Legal team with a strong focus on data privacy laws and regulations.  This is an excellent opportunity to obtain real-world, business experience on a Legal team.

 

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with an interest in learning about the evolving consumer privacy rights in the US.

 

This will be a full-time, paid position based in Dearborn, MI

 

Hybrid:  Intern will be required to work in the Dearborn, MI office every Tuesday and Wednesday
 

Duration:  June 9th through August 13th, 2025

 

Essential Functions  

1. Attend FordDirect’s New Employee Orientation program
2. Monitor privacy and AI laws and regulations and assess their impact on FordDirect’s practices.
3. Support in conducting data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) for new products or services, documenting risk and collaborating with appropriate teams.
4. Assist in processing and responding to DSRs.
5. Assist with additional privacy-related projects.

1. Gain experience working for a Digital Marketing Company within the automotive industry.

3. Gain practical knowledge of operationalizing privacy rights and understanding consumer rights under privacy laws
4. Obtain exposure to risk assessment process and how privacy risks are managed in an organization.
5. Exposure to basic privacy or cybersecurity principles.
6. Develop skills in interpreting and analyzing legal text and understanding the nuances in privacy regulations

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Experience in data privacy preferred
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks or deadlines effectively
• Strong organizational skills and time management skills
• Energetic, effective communicator
• A desire to pursue Privacy or Cybersecurity as a future career
• Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

 

Education

Junior or senior student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Legal Studies, or another relevant discipline

A minor in Data Privacy, Cybersecurity or Ethics is a plus
